Biotech Booster
Biotech Booster is a national program funded by the Dutch National Growth Fund that supports the commercialization of biotechnology findings in The Netherlands. Biotech Booster offers financial support, mentorship and networking opportunities to guide scientists and entrepreneurs from the idea stage to an investable or commercial proposition.
The goal is to make sure that the benefits of biotechnology will have more and faster impact on society. Moreover, Biotech Booster facilitates close collaborations between public and private partners in the biotechnology sector and established five Thematic Clusters following biotechnological focus areas:
1. White: Industrial Biotechnology & Production (TC 1);
2. Green: Agriculture & Food (TC 2);
3. Red: ATMP’s, Biopharmaceuticals & Associated Enabling Technologies (TC 3);
4. Red: Diagnostics and Services (TC 4); and
5. Red: Vaccines, Small Molecules, Discovery & Development Platforms (TC 5).
All Business Developers (BDs) within Biotech Booster are appointed at Knowledge Transfer Offices (KTOs) like Luris. Luris fully supports Biotech Booster’s core principle that the valorization of biotech in the Netherlands is best achieved by enabling KTOs to learn from one another and from experienced entrepreneurs.
Luris provides two BDs for the thematic clusters 3 and 5 (ATMPs and Small Molecules, Vaccines and Platform Technologies). In addition, Luris acts as the Coordinator on behalf of Leiden University for the latter cluster, and therefore also supplies the cluster manager and additional support.
